2. What are the operational AC Voltage Ranges of Mitec’s BUC and SSPA?
  • 90 to 130VAC or 190 to 260VAC for:
    • C-Band RF Power < 100W and;
    • Ku-Band RF Power < 80W
  • 190 to 260VAC for:
    • C-band RF Power of > 100 W, and;
    • Ku-Band RF Power of > 80W.
3. What is 10MHz level required?
BUC requires 10 MHz level of 0dBm+/-5dB.
4. What is the DC voltage range for the BUC and the BUC current?
+15 to +24VDC; operational current 1 to 1.5A; muted <0.2A.
5. How do I connect my laptop or PC to the RS-485 Interface?
An RS-485 to RS-232 converter or RS-485 to USB converter is required. Mitec recommends the following models:
  • RS485 to RS232 converter: B&B ELECTRONICS 4850T9L, which must be used with an AC power pack (B&B ELECTRONICS 485PS2)
  • RS485 to USB converter: B&B ELECTRONICS USOPTL4
The interface protocol is included in the User Manual.

GUI software is also available from the Mitec ftp site. You can access Mitec’s ftp site at:

choose: File -> Login As...
username: mitecftp
password: ftp2004
6. What is a Local Oscillator (LO) frequency of the BUC?
LO frequency is indicated in the BR document and/or the User Manual.

LO Frequency:
  • Standard C-Band is 4.9GHz;
  • Standard Ku-Band is 13.05GHz;
  • Standard bands BUCs are non-inverting
7. What is the function of a Bias Tee?
To provide +24 VDC and 10 MHz reference to the BUC.
